Plantum NL has about 450 company members. These Dutch companies concentrate on the following: breed new varieties, propagate cuttings and young plants (including tissue culture propagation), produce and trade seeds. The total turnover of the Plantum NL members is 1.6 billion euro per year.

The Netherlands is world market leader in the supply of propagation material for floriculture and seed potatoes. In 2002 The Netherlands exported nearly 200 million US dollars worth of plant material for floriculture. It is second to the United States as the largest exporter of agricultural seeds and horticultural seeds.
