Activities

Plantum actively lobbies for countless main issues, both in the national and international arena. Plantum is the international point of contact for the Dutch breeding and propagating sector and recognised as an authority for its knowledge of this branch. The activities Plantum engages in to represent the interests of the plant reproduction material sector are:

 

  • Acting as a discussion partner for the Dutch government regarding numerous issues (such as: phytosanitary policy, trade and knowledge policy);
  • Platform for knowledge and information exchange;
  • Developing an effective crop protection package for the sector;
  • Concluding collective labour agreements;
  • Putting joint research projects out to tender;
  • Developing quality brands;
  • Consulting with suppliers with the aim of improving the quality of produce;
  • Assisting in co-ordinating Value for Cultivation and Use testing (VCU);
  • Appointing representatives in numerous external boards, committees and advisory bodies (inspection services and product boards);
  • Representing the Dutch business community in international organisations (European Seed Association, International Seed Federation).
