Practical Information
New varieties are tested intensively for, for example, Value for Cultivation and Use, disease resistance and production capacity. Companies that use the varieties and chain partners can see the new range during demo days and open days organised by nurseries and research stations.
Please find practical information about varieties, treating propagating material for strawberries and agreements with FloraHolland below.
Recommended list of varieties and VCU potatoes
After the obligatory Value for Cultivation and Use test (VCU), the majority of agricultural crops are subjected to an additional year of recommended testing. This provides valuable information for practical situations. This information is contained in the Recommended list of varieties. Potatoes are exempt from following this recommended testing. On the request of users, the propagating companies therefore release the VCU results for potatoes.
Grass guide
Grasses used for recreational purposes must also meet specific demands such as play tolerance and having a high recovery capacity. See here for more information about the Grass Guide.
Own seed or Farm Saved Seed
Propagation by others of plant reproduction material protected by Plant Breeders' Rights is not permitted, unless a license has been obtained from the Plant Breeders' Right holder. An exception to this rule is the propagation of seed of cereals and seed potatoes. This exception is subject to strict conditions. See here for more information.
CATT Strawberries
Checklist for handling strawberry plants according to the Controlled Atmosphere method.
